Sonja Eddings Brown is a media consultant and a leader in education reform in Los Angeles, California. She has been married for 28 years and is the mother of three children.
Ms. Brown began her career as a television news reporter, and has worked for all the major networks as a producer in Los Angeles.
For the past 15 years, Sonja Eddings Brown has developed a private practice as a media consultant representing corporate entertainment clients, Olympic athletes, non-profit organizations, and several state and national political campaigns.
A longtime advocate for public education, Sonja Eddings Brown is the founding Board President of the largest charter high school in the country, Granada Hills Charter High School, located in Los Angeles. Granada serves 4000 students on its 22-acre campus. The school has become one of the highest-rated high schools in California and an important example of education reform for school districts throughout the country. The courageous educators at Granada, along with other outstanding charter school leaders in Los Angeles, are credited with cracking open the long stagnant Los Angeles Unified School District and giving birth to city-wide reform.
Finally, close friends of Ms. Brown also know her as a successful musician.
Ms. Brown was nominated for her first Clio Award for music and performance at the age of 19. As a composer for television in Hollywood she has written and produced themes for clients including FOX Television, KABC, Disney, The NBA’s Utah Jazz, NBC’s Olympic coverage, and many national commercial campaigns. She has also been recognized with the, Gabriel Award, Addy, and the Telly Award for original music in television.
